Director, Division D Pajaro Valley Water Management Agency Occupation: Laboratory Owner/ Chemist Age: 62 Education and Qualifications: Born in 1938 and raised in Watsonville. Attended Stanford University and the University of Oregon, resulting in a Doctorate in Chemistry. Pursued a career in teaching, research, and management at Purdue University, Community Hospital of Indianapolis, Beckman Instruments, Inc., and Caremark, Inc.. For over the past 10 years have owned and operated Branciforte Laboratory in Watsonville, offering analytical testing and consulting to the agricultural community. If elected, I will encourage the Agency to extensively explore methods for effective conservation of water resources by all users. I will urge the Agency to establish close communications with the California University systems and take full advantage of the results of the research and educational programs in irrigation management and design that they conduct. I will encourage the Agency to investigate the actions of organizations in other States which have been formed to deal with similar situations and analyze the results of the plans they have implemented. I believe my technical background and experience in management will enable me to understand the complex issues confronting the Agency and contribute to finding practical, and cost effective, solutions. |
