Hello, I am Benjamin Cogan. I am a BSA Eagle Scout, ASE master mechanic and entrepreneur with a focus on health.

To me Santa Cruz has been about the importance of individual expression and individual freedom.  I would revive and continue that legacy by restoring the power of the individual in government.

Committed to transparency; hold evening meetings so more people can attend.

Keep it local - prevent powers from being transferred to outside agendas, agencies and corporations.

Increase safety by focusing on violent crime first.

Interests are; clean air, water, beaches, streets, and parks.

Increase “off-leash” play-space/times on local beaches for dogs.

Promote better maintained roads.

Lower taxes by cutting waste in government - not cutting services.

Increase citizen involvement in decisions regarding new, essential and non-essential, infrastructure.

Increase creative housing solutions to address homelessness and affordability, by way of “tiny homes” and backyard cottages rather than “stack ‘n’ pack” apartment buildings.

Protect our freedom of choice.

Anything unconstitutional will receive my “no” vote.

Being my first time in public office, I offer new energy, spirit and ideas.  My passion is freedom.  I look forward to connecting so I may serve you better.
