Anna Caballero
For State Assembly, 30th District
Party Preference: Democratic
Occupation: Independent Small Businesswoman
You know me. I have dedicated my career to making our community a better place to live. I moved to Monterey County 36 years ago to work as a lawyer for farmworkers. I later started the non-profit “Partners for Peace” to develop strategies to reduce youth violence. We focused on early childhood education, literacy, school safety, afterschool programs, youth employment and strengthening family communication.
I served as your City Councilmember, Mayor, and State Assemblymember. In the Assembly, I helped lead early efforts to deal with California’s water crisis. Five years ago Jerry Brown asked me to serve in his Cabinet to help reduce California’s $26 billion dollar budget deficit. I worked with the Governor to make the state more efficient, customer service oriented and fiscally accountable. I enjoyed working with the Governor to help resolve issues that threatened our community; like getting state approval for local public school construction to make them safe, funding affordable housing projects and helping federal and local authorities make the new Veterans Cemetery at Fort Ord a reality.
With encouragement from local leaders I returned home to finish what I started. I will stand up for you and make sure that the needs of our communities are being met. We need someone with experience, who has worked with Governor Brown and knows how to get things done to solve the problems of homelessness, youth violence and the needs of returning veterans. Honor me with your vote. I know how to get things done.
