Argument for Measure O
The COVID-19 crisis has had a significant impact on our community, but especially on our schools. Overnight, teachers and staff have been forced to find completely new ways to educate, stay connected with and care for our children. And we have all learned a valuable lesson: crises don’t wait—we must prepare for any emergency.
We now see how critical it is to ensure that our schools are safe, high-quality learning environments where children thrive, no matter the circumstances. Measure O gives us the opportunity to do this without raising taxes.
Measure O will provide Aromas School, San Juan School and Anzar High School with resources to make critical safety updates and better prepare students for a changing world.
Measure O projects include:
- Improving student access to the internet, computers and modern technology
- Increasing student safety and school security
- Repairing classrooms and facilities, including wiring, plumbing and roofs
It’s important that every tax dollar is watched over. So, in addition to not raising taxes, Measure O comes with ironclad taxpayer protections, including:
- Requiring a rigorous Independent Citizens’ Oversight Committee and third-party auditor
- Qualifying for state matching funds
- Prohibiting any funds from being used for administrators’ salaries and benefits
- Guaranteeing that all bond money will be spent locally, not taken by the state for use elsewhere
Our community prides itself on taking care of each other and coming together to support those in need. Today, it’s our schools that need help. Let’s prepare them for whatever the future may bring. Let’s ensure that, no matter the circumstances, our children receive the best education possible without raising taxes.
Measure O will benefit us all. With better schools come higher property values and a brighter outlook for our community. Our schools are our most valuable public resource. Let’s guarantee they remain that way. Vote Yes on Measure O.
