Karina Cervantez Alejo
For State Assembly, 30th District
Party Preference: Democratic
Occupation: Educator/Vice Mayor Age: 36
As a daughter of farm workers, I understood how hard my parents worked everyday to make ends meet. It is the story of many families throughout the region. I was the first in my family to go to college, and soon, a PhD from UC Santa Cruz.
My life in public service has been dedicated to creating safer and healthier communities by working with at-risk youth, developing leadership and after-school programs, and working as an educator at CSU Monterey Bay.
As mayor and councilmember, I’ve been an effective voice for working families— expanding crime prevention programs for youth and strengthening our police, fire and emergency response services.
In Sacramento, I will put what is best for our communities ahead of party politics. I’ll work to bring people together to solve problems and get things done—like creating more jobs, supporting agriculture and small business, keeping college affordable and lessening the burden of debt for students, improving our roads and highways, cutting government waste and balancing our state budget. I will fight to get big, special interest money out of politics and restore our democracy.
I am also the ONLY candidate who can serve our Assembly District for more than just one term.
I'm proud to be the ONLY candidate officially endorsed by a broad coalition of individuals and organizations including local law enforcement, teachers, school employees, nurses, and leaders from all political parties.
This November 8th, I respectfully ask for your support for State Assembly.
