Argument For Measure Y
Vote YES on Measure Y to continue local funding to keep Watsonville safe.
Years ago, Watsonville struggled with rising crime and gang incidents. To address such problems, Watsonville voters approved a measure in 2014 that increased funding to fight gangs and crime, support efforts to keep youth safe and out of trouble, increase neighborhood police patrols and support fire and emergency response.
Today, through our community’s investment in public safety, Watsonville has the lowest crime rates in over a decade. The safety of our community has improved and it’s essential that we continue to provide local resources for public safety.
The 2014 tax measure will expire soon. Measure Y will continue funding critical police and fire services and support youth programs that keep them off the streets and out of trouble, without increasing taxes.
Measure Y will continue current levels of public safety and police services, including neighborhood police support, and crime and youth prevention programs.
